ACIDS See HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE
Battery Acid, Muriatic Acid, and Hydrochloric Acid: Accepted via the Tox-Away Program at the Columbus/Bartholomew Recycling Center Monday - Friday 7:30-4:30. Limit 1 gallon per visit.
ADHESIVES Not accepted in the Tox-Away Program. Read the product label for recommended disposal instructions.
AEROSOL CANS
Accepted for scrap metal at the Columbus/Bartholomew Recycling Center. Must be completely empty and depressurized.
AGRICULTURAL PLASTIC
Check the number in the recycling triangle, usually on the bottom of the container. #1 and #2 plastics are accepted at all BCSWMD facilities. Must be empty, clean, and dry. Separate by number. Plastics marked with #3-#7 are not accepted at BCSWMD facilities.

ALUMINUM CANS
Empty, clean, dry, and loose cans are accepted for recycling at all BCSWMD facilities. Separate from aluminum cans when using the Columbus/Bartholomew Recycling Center. Do not put plastic bags in the recycling bins at the Bartholomew County Landfill, Harrison Township Convenience Site, or Petersville Convenience Site.
ALUMINUM SIDING
Accepted in the scrap metal bin at the Bartholomew County Landfill during regular business hours.

APPLIANCES
Refrigerators, air conditioners, freezers, dehumidifiers can be recycled at the Bartholomew County Landfill. $20 per item fee applies. Non-working items without refrigerant can be disposed of in the scrap metal bins at the Bartholomew County Landfill during regular hours. Dishwashers, washers, dryers, ranges/ovens in working condition can be donated at the Bartholomew County Landfill Reuse Center Monday-Friday 7:30-4:30, Saturday 7:30-4:00.

ASHES (wood/charcoal/coal)
Dispose of in garbage or at Bartholomew County Landfill when completely cold. Hot ashes can ignite a trash fire.
ASPHALT
Asphalt is considered a bulky waste item for the landfill.
ASPHALT SEALER
If the asphalt sealer is latex-based (you can clean up with water), it must be dried out and then disposed with your trash. Non-latex asphalt sealer is a Household Hazardous Waste, however it is not accepted in the Tox-Away Program at the Columbus Bartholomew Recycling Center. Read the label for recommended disposal instructions.

AUTOMOTIVE FLUIDS
Brake Fluid: Accepted via the Tox-Away Program at the Columbus/Bartholomew Recycling Center Monday - Friday 7:30-4:30. Limit 5 gallons per visit.
Motor Oil and Oil Filters: Accepted via the Tox-Away Program at the Columbus/Bartholomew Recycling Center Monday - Friday 7:30-4:30. Limit 5 gallons per visit. No gasoline filters. Hydraulic fluid filters are ok.
Transmission fluid: Accepted via the Tox-Away Program at the Columbus/Bartholomew Recycling Center Monday - Friday 7:30-4:30. Limit 5 gallons per visit.
Carburetor Cleaner, Engine Degreaser, and Radiator Flush are not accepted in the Tox-Away Program. Read label for disposal instructions.
