CANNING JARS
Canning jars are not recyclable because of the thickness of the glass. Reuse, donate, or place in the garbage.

CARBON MONOXIDE MONITORS
Not recyclable. Dispose of in the garbage.

CARBON PAPER
Not recyclable. Dispose of in the garbage.

CARDBOARD (corrugated and paperboard)
Recyclable at all BCSWMD facilities. Flatten boxes.

CARDBOARD TUBES (paper towel/ toilet paper tubes)
Recyclable with cardboard at all BCSWMD facilities. Can be donated to the Little Red School House for reuse by Bartholomew County educators.

CARPET & RUGS
Heavy trash pickup items. Contact your trash hauler for information. Dispose of in the Bartholomew County Landfill.

CASSETTE TAPES & CASES
Not accepted at BCSWMD facilities for recycling. Dispose of cassette tapes and boxes in the garbage.

CARSEATS
Not accepted at BCSWMD facilities for recycling. Can be disposed of at the Bartholomew County Landfill. Retail stores and some police and fire departments will hold take back/exchange events.

Recyclable at all BCSWMD facilities. Sort from other paper types when using the Columbus/Bartholomew Recycling Center.

CCA-TREATED WOOD (pressure-treated)
CCA-treated wood should only be disposed of at the Bartholomew County Landfill. Do not dispose of CCA-treated wood in a backyard compost pile, brush pile, chipping pile, or burn pile.

CDs and CD CASES
Not accepted at BCSWMD facilities for recycling. Dispose of cassette tapes and boxes in the garbage.

CEMENT/CONCRETE/CINDER BLOCKS
Dispose of at the Bartholomew County Landfill during regular hours. Call 812.342.2756 to inquire about clean fill.

CHARCOAL
Dispose of in the garbage once completely cold.

CIGARETTE LIGHTERS
Dispose of in the garbage.

CLOTHING
BCSWMD does not accept clothing for recycling or reuse. Donate usable items to a charity such as San Souci, Goodwill, or Salvation Army.

CONSTRUCTION & DEMOLITION DEBRIS
Asphalt, Asphalt Shingles, Bricks, Cement, Cinder Blocks, Clapboard, Concrete, Doors, Flooring, Insulation, Lumber, Mortar, Plaster, Plywood, Roofing, Sheetrock, Shingles, Tiles, Windows, and Wood can be disposed of in the Bartholomew County Landfill.
Building materials in good, reusable condition may be donated to Habitat for Humanity Restore.

CONSTRUCTION PAPER
Construction paper is not recyclable because the fibers are too short. Used, damaged, or unclean construction paper must be disposed of in the garbage. Unused, clean construction paper can be donated to the Little Red School House for reuse by Bartholomew County educators.

COOKING OIL
Accepted via the Tox-Away Program at the Columbus/Bartholomew Recycling Center Monday - Friday 7:30-4:30. Limit 5 gallons per visit.

COOKWARE
Cookware in good condtion may be donated to local charities or the Bartholomew County Landfill Reuse Center during regular hours. Cookware in any condition is not recyclable. Dispose of in garbage if damaged.

COPY PAPER/OFFICE PAPER
Accepted at all BCSWMD facilities. Sort from other paper types when using the Columbus/Bartholomew Recycling Center. Most wrappers for copy paper are not accepted for paper recycling due to the plastic moisture barrier that coats the wrapper. Plastic wrappers for copy paper are not accepted in BCSWMD plastics recycling.

CREOSOTE (from wood stoves/fireplaces)
Dispose of in the garbage.

CREOSOTE SEALER
Dry up and then dispose of in the garbage.
